Proctoclinic: An Integrated Colorectal Center with approved research projects specialising in diagnosing and treating all diseases and disorders of the small intestines, colon, rectum and anus, including colorectal cancer with the use of Pioneering Laser Treatment Methods
The “Proctoclinic” centre started its operation fifteen years ago, introducing in Greece new laser-based treatments for colorectal diseases, which had been developed in Germany, Italy and other European countries. The director of the centre, Dr. Alkiviadis Pappas, oriented towards these new laser methods, started initially (2009) to apply laser haemorrhoidoplasty (LHP technique) and later on (2010), he applied treatments for difficult (high) anal fistulas (FiLaC technique). At the same time, he continued to develop these methods, but also to develop his own techniques, applying the laser to other anal diseases, which until then were treated worldwide in the classical way, i.e. with a scalpel, or were not treated effectively, such as proctalgias.
Thus, in 2012, pioneering on a global level, he developed laser treatment for coccygeal cyst (endoscopic laser sublimation of the coccygeal cyst – SiLaC technique), as well as laser treatment for anal fissure (fissure laser treatment – FiLaT).
One of the most important developments in this long course of research and surgical practice is the advanced application of lasers to 3rd and 4th degree hemorrhoid disease, with the method of Total Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty (Total LHP), a development of simple hemorrhoidoplasty.

One of the most important developments in this long-term course of research and surgical practice is the advanced application of lasers in 3rd and 4th degree hemorrhoidal disease, with the method of Total Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty(Total LHP).

This method is an evolution of the original method first developed in the aforementioned European countries (which treated 2nd and 3rd degree haemorrhoidal disease), and is important as an evolution since it can treat all types of haemorrhoidal disease (3rd and 4th degree), regardless of form and degree, with laser.

Therefore, it is important for the patient to know that the choice of the treatment of haemorrhoidal diseases does not depend on their degree, but solely on the surgical experience and medical expertise of the surgeon.

Note: Hemorrhoidopathy can be treated with laser, no matter how advanced it is, so the patient does not need to be guided to choose the old classic treatment method (scalpel) and – in any of the cases – there is no need to remove the hemorrhoids.
