Treatment for spastic colitis includes dietary treatment, as well as psychological and pharmaceutical support. Initially, the doctor must explain to the patient that this is a chronic but benign condition, which has to do, solely, with the disturbance of the motility of the colon. He should also make him understand that avoiding physical and, in particular, mental strain provides a significant improvement.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

The role of diet is particularly important. Most studies conclude that the patient should avoid those foods that tempt him. Especially those patients who present with diarrheal stools are advised to avoid fats and seasonings such as pepper, garlic, onion, etc. On the other hand, patients with constipation should consume more fiber, such as whole grain bread, buttery preparations, etc.<\/p>\n
